In today’s news, United Kingdom provides food support in Pakistan, World Health Organization raises alarm about COVID fatality rate in Africa, one of the largest cities in the world bans plastic, United Arab Emirates brings sustainable power to remote communities, United States police chief saves a woman and child in icy river, study finds young adults willing to change their diet to protect the planet, and Florida grasshopper sparrows on the rise.

United Kingdom supports food program in Pakistan.

The UK has contributed £3.5 million through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and United States-headquartered International Rescue Committee (IRC) to supply vital nutrients to over 41,000 women and children in need in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province. In addition, humanitarian cash transfers will be made to over 18,000 households in the Jhal Magsi and Chaghi districts. WFP will assist community level health and outreach workers to identify malnourished youngsters and expectant and nursing mothers while IRC will help provide cash transfers to vulnerable households. More than 164,000 people in Balochistan will benefit from the funding. The United Kingdom is a laureate of the Shining World Leadership for Caring Award, Shining World Wise Leadership Award, and Shining World Leadership Awards for Protection, Animal Protection and Kindness. Our accolades, United Kingdom, World Food Programme and International Rescue Committee, for your care and kindness in saving lives. In the magnificence and grace of Allah, may all Balochistan people be blessed with good health.

Africa’s COVID fatality rate rises.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that Africa’s COVID-19 case fatality rate is 2.6%, which is above the global average of 2.2%. WHO has called for an equitable distribution of the vaccine. So far African countries including Algeria, Guinea, Mauritius, Morocco, Seychelles and South Africa, have begun to administer it. Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, said, “The increasing deaths from COVID-19 we are seeing are tragic, but are also disturbing warning signs that health workers and health systems in Africa are dangerously overstretched. This grim milestone must refocus everyone on stamping out the virus.” Our sincere appreciation, World Health Organization, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti and all healthcare providers, for your efforts to keep us safe. We pray for the well-being of our African sisters and brothers as we together face this global challenge, in Heaven’s protection.

Up next, one of the largest cities in the world activates plastic ban. We’ll take a moment to thank employee benefits specialists who administer employee benefits and retirement programs in an organization. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more encouraging news.

Hallo, virtuous friends, it's Santi the vegan Squirrel Monkey! I don’t mean to brag, but I’m very cute and adorable. I love eating vegan foods as it fills my heart with love. Be more loving by being vegan, like me! We have a tip for you today to help keep your cooking pans in top shape. For cleaning ones with enamel coatings, try soaking them first before using a non-scratch scrubber to remove stuck-on residue. If you use stainless steel pans, try to avoid using steel wool so the shiny surface won’t be scratched. You can soak them, or for those more difficult-to-remove spots, try simmering vinegar water in the pan first and then letting it cool before scrubbing. Thank you for watching. Lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now the weather from around the world.

One of the world’s largest cities activates plastic ban.

Mexico City, Mexico, with a population of nine million residents, has put into effect its ban on single-use plastic that officials passed in 2019. The ban includes plastic bags, utensils and other disposable items. Business owners have spent the past year in preparation, switching to eco-friendly solutions like paper wrapping or bio-disposable plastic. The city’s environmental secretary, the Honorable Marina Robles García, also sent out a friendly reminder for customers to always bring reusable containers when they shop. Bravo, Mexico City! In God’s light, you represent a promising example for cities around the globe to live in harmony with the planet.

The United Arab Emirates distributes solar powered lights to homes in Indonesia.

Under the UAE sustainable initiative 20by2020 managed by the Zayed Sustainability Prize, tens of thousands of families in remote Pulau Laut Selatan in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, received a total of 3,600 solar lanterns and 1,000 solar mobile chargers. The region previously had no access to electricity, making it difficult and unsafe for children to read at night using candles, diesel, and kerosene lamps. As part of the UAE’s sustainability initiative, a total of 20 remote communities in countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Jordan, Madagascar, Nepal, Tanzania, and Uganda were selected for implementing solutions such as clean water and solar lighting. United Arab Emirates is a recipient of the Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance, and a laureate of Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace, Environment Protection, Protection, and Compassion. Thank you, United Arab Emirates and all involved in bringing modern sustainable energy solutions to those in need. May Heaven help humans distribute our great technologies to all who can benefit.

Heroic police chief saves woman and daughter in icy river.

After being alerted, Chief of Police of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, United States, Michael Foligno rushed to the Passaic River to assist a distraught mother trying to hold on to her child with one hand and the edge of the ice with the other after she and her two-year-old daughter fell through the ice. The officer was able to quickly borrow a nearby kayak. He then used his hands as paddles to propel the kayak over 68 meters from the shore to reach the duo and bring them into the kayak. Two firefighters in wetsuits utilized ropes and a sled to tow the plastic boat back to the riverbank with help from first responders. The 37-year-old mother and her toddler were admitted to a nearby hospital. God bless you, Police Chief Michael Foligno, firefighters, first responders and all who helped save two precious lives. May you long continue your noble work for the grateful public, sheltered by the Divine.

Coming up, study finds young adults willing to change their diet to protect the planet. We’ll pause now to appreciate the Mask dance of the drums from Drametse, a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from eastern Bhutan, performed in the honor of Padmasambhava, the venerated Tibetan enlightened Master of the 8th century. More supporting news coming up on Supreme Master Television.

Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Hopeful News for an Optimistic World.

Study finds majority of young adults willing to change their diet to help the environment.

A new survey conducted in the United Kingdom and commissioned by plant-based milk company, Sweden-headquartered Oatly, found that over 50% of 16- to 24-year-olds would consider adopting a plant-based diet to benefit the planet. The survey was part of Oatly’s “Help-Dad” campaign. It was launched in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and then introduced in the United Kingdom with prime time television commercials supported by social media. The project gives children a guide for helping older generations understand the importance of shifting from dairy to plant-based alternatives, by providing statistics, tips and recipes. Way to go, Oatly, for your compassionate efforts and sharing these encouraging findings. In the wisdom of the Providence, may more and more people continue to choose the vegan way to save the world!

Rare sparrow population increasing in the wild.

The Florida grasshopper sparrows, found only on the dry prairies of southcentral Florida, United States, are considered highly endangered. The bird population decreased to fewer than 200 in 2013. The decline was attributed to factors including loss of habitat, predators, disease and genetic issues. To supplement the wild population, the US Fish and Wildlife Service launched a captive breeding program. Biologists released the captive-bred sparrows into the wild in May 2019. The wild population went up from 80, with 20 breeding pairs in 2018, to about 100, with 30 breeding pairs at the end of the 2020 breeding season. This encouraged the biologists to work harder to stop the decline. Our admiration to all those involved in preserving the lovely Florida grasshopper sparrows. May our treasured avian friends soon thrive again, in Heaven’s joyous melodies.

Take a walk on the funny side of life with the joke of the day called, “Out of Gas.”

A young woman sat in her stalled car, waiting for help. Finally, two men walked up to her.

“I’m out of gas. Could you push me to the gas station?”

The men readily put their muscles to work and rolled the car several blocks. After a while, one looked up, exhausted, to see that they had just passed a gas station.

“How come you didn’t turn in?”

“Oh, I never go there. They don’t have full service.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Son Ga-Eun in Korea:

I saw lovely animals share their feelings with humans on Supreme Master TV, and it was so touching. I am living with my cats and dogs, and they have different personalities. I think animals are “furry angels” who bless and love us. When I am under stress and my animal friends give me a loving look, I immediately feel better. I can sense that other animals appearing on Supreme Master TV truly trust human beings just as my animal companions do. Son Ga-Eun from Korea

Warm-hearted Son Ga-Eun, Thank you for sharing about the joy and affection of your animal family. We too feel uplifted and touched by the many animals that grace the screen of Supreme Master Television and are humbled by the love our animal friends so selflessly give. May Heavens bless you, your precious cat and dog companions, bountiful Korea and her benevolent people, with much peace and beauty. In Heaven’s Grace, Supreme Master TV team
