Afghan elders approve prisoner release.

To further the progress towards peace, Afghanistan’s grand assembly of elders known as the Loya Jirga, has approved the freeing of 400 Taliban prisoners. The decision was subsequently signed by Afghan President His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and follows a peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban earlier in the year. The Taliban welcomed the Loya Jirga decision, expressing a desire for a rapid commencement of peace talks, which hold the opportunity for a new era of harmony. Our respectful commendation, Afghanistan’s Loya Jirga and Your Excellency Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. May these auspicious events bring prosperity and happiness to the peace-loving citizens of Afghanistan, in Allah’s grace.

German bank provides humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Egyptians.

The state-owned German Development Bank contributed €15 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launch a two-year project in Egypt. The initiative will support 136,000 disadvantaged families in the nation through nutritional assistance to school children, monthly cash aid to families whose children are attending school, microloans for women, and skill development for youth. Food assistance to expectant and nursing mothers and children under two as well as enhanced availability of health care and nutrition services will also be provided along with nutrition awareness campaigns reaching millions of people throughout the country. The WFP is working with various government entities in Egypt to implement the project. Many thanks, and Divine blessings, German Development Bank, World Food Programme and partners, for your invaluable assistance to vulnerable sisters and brothers. May the valiant people of Egypt thrive in peace and prosperity, in Heaven’s embrace in the soon-to-come vegan world!

Up next, Canadian company successfully recycles lithium battery. We pause to thank the disc jockeys, who know many songs and play recorded music for the enjoyment of others on radio broadcasts or for live events. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more gladdening news.

Hi, selfless friends, it’s me, William the vegan White-Cheeked Spider Monkey. How can you help the planet? Adopt a vegan diet! Here’s a tip for those with newly adopted animal companions. Create a space to accommodate your new fur friend to make them feel safe and immediately welcomed. Choose a bed that allows enough room for them to stretch and grow, yet isn’t too large, as they like to feel cozy and protected. Add a blanket to their bed to give additional comfort, especially for cooler days. If your friend likes to be outside a lot, you can try a special made animal companion house to provide protection. Also be sure that their outside bed is in a position that it is shielded from weather conditions. You might consider trying mats or beds with waterproof liners, so the main bedding always stays dry and just the outside cover can be washed when needed. Thank you for tuning in, and much love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now, the weather around the world!

Canadian company develops lithium battery recycling technology.

Li-Cycle, based in Ontario, Canada, has developed a method to recover over 95% of the contents of old lithium batteries to create the materials required to produce new ones. This involves the shredding of old batteries and then the separation of the mixed materials via non-toxic chemical processing. Compared to extracting new materials from the ground, this process saves 60% in greenhouse gas emissions and solves the problem of sustainably recycling old batteries in a cost-efficient manner. Li-Cycle’s first plant in the United States is due to be set up in New York later this year and will have the capacity to input 5,000 tons of lithium per year. Way to go, Li-Cycle! May your efforts in battery recycling help in safeguarding Mother Earth for future generations, in God’s splendor.

Scientists develop new method to detect space debris.

Scientists from the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences have created a technique that allows the detection of space debris during daylight hours. With the current system of debris tracking, objects and material at a distance are only visible during a few hours after sunset and before sunrise, when they are illuminated by sunlight, but are not in the Earth’s shadow. The new procedure uses specialized telescopes, filters and detectors that can increase the contrast of the material, thus making it visible. This advancement will allow researchers to more accurately map and monitor the path of space debris, thus protecting satellites and atmospheric equipment. Congratulations, Austrian Academy of Sciences researchers, on your important accomplishment. As we enter the golden age of technology, in Celestial delight, may the ways we observe and understand our amazing cosmos continue to expand.

Ten-year-old boy’s charity provides protection to police dogs.

Two years ago, when then eight-year-old Brady Snakovsky of Ohio, United States watched a television program about police dogs, he noticed that the canine units lacked the same protection as their human counterparts. The compassionate boy decided to do something to help. He founded a charity called Brady’s K9 Fund and also set up a GoFundMe page, which has already reached over US$315,000, to raise the money required to buy protective vests for the working canines. The donations have allowed 264 police dogs in at least 23 US states and in Canada to be equipped with the specially designed vests, and have also benefitted military dogs in Afghanistan. Recently, the altruistic youth has also assisted in opening a local dog park where police dogs can participate in their monthly training. Admirable work, Brady! God bless you. Your caring example, and that of the noble police dogs you love, bring uplifting light into our world, in Divine benevolence. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily present the Shining World Compassion Award to Brady Snakovsky, plus a US$10,000 humble contribution for this caring cause, with much love, praises and best wishes. May you and all involved be forever embraced in God’s grace.”

Coming up, Chinese restaurant chain adopts vegan pork. We’ll pause for some time now to send a prayer for children who are waiting to be adopted into loving families. More high-thinking news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Uplifting News for a Safer World.

Wonton chain in Shanghai, China launches vegan-pork dumplings.

The JiXiang Wonton chain recently partnered with Hong Kong-based social venture group Green Monday to introduce wontons made with vegan OmniPork. They offered them at 500 locations across Shanghai in China. Due to the success of their launch, JiXiang Wonton said it will add its OmniPork wonton to all of its China locations. The new wontons’ ingredients include cabbage, water chestnuts, carrots, corn and a buckwheat flour covering. They come during a time when meatpacking plants have been closed down due to COVID-19 outbreaks and the reoccurrence of swine flu have caused extensive concern about the safety of consuming animal products. Kudos, JiXiang Wonton, for your decision to include a vegan product on your menu. In Heaven’s radiance, may the wise people of China quickly switch to the lives-protecting, compassionate diet, for a safer and more loving world.

Researchers discover new colonies of penguins in Antarctica.

Using images from the European Commission’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite, researchers from the British Antarctic Survey have discovered 11 new colonies of emperor penguin colonies living in Antarctica. This brings the number of known colonies of the lovely aquatic birds to 61. Some of the groups were found on offshore sea ice that had formed around icebergs that were grounded in shallow water. The finding increases the known population of this largest penguin species by five to ten percent, to a little over 500,000 individuals. However, the penguins depend on sea ice for their breeding, and scientists have been concerned about the impact of global warming on them. Thank you, researchers from the British Antarctic Survey, for your encouraging news. May the friendly emperor penguins’ icy habitat remain constant as we strive to ensure a stable planetary climate for all life, in God’s grace and mercy.

Laughter is good for our health, so we chose a joke of the day for you called “Two Questions.”

A woman went to a fortune teller who charged $50 for two questions.

“Don’t you think $50 is too expensive for two questions?”

“Yes, it is,” agreed the fortune teller. “Now what is your second question?”
