In today’s news, Afghan refugees in Pakistan benefit from humanitarian aid, astronomers identify repeating signals from galaxies across the universe, Australian state commits to increasing green cover, scientists make headway to solving malaria, Japanese city receives large anonymous donation for coronavirus relief, American celebrity doctor advises meat reduction for better health, and Bulgarian car mechanic dedicates free time to make mobility aids for cats and dogs.

United Nations provides assistance to displaced Afghans in Pakistan.

A collaborative effort of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Pakistan’s Ministry of States and Frontier Regions, and the state postal service, Pakistan Post, provided a cash assistance of approximately US$75 to each of about 36,000 vulnerable Afghan refugee families in Pakistan to meet their emergency needs during the coronavirus pandemic. This much needed help was given to families, people with disabilities or serious medical afflictions, and single parents. UNHCR Deputy Representative in Pakistan, Iain Hall, indicated that if more funds become available from donors, the agency will expand its humanitarian support to more families. Our heartfelt gratitude, UNHCR, Pakistan’s Ministry of States and Frontier Regions, and Pakistan Post. May Allah bless all to live in abundance, health and joy!

Researchers discover repeating pattern of radio signals from beyond our galaxy.

A group of researchers from around the world working on the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment Fast Radio Burst Project, called the CHIME/FRB Collaboration, have discovered a regularly repeating radio burst from beyond our galaxy, 500 million light years away. The origin of the fast radio bursts is unknown, and it is the first time they have been observed to have a regular repeating pattern. The signals, which usually last a few milliseconds and can be so bright that they outshine entire galaxies, are measured by a large antenna of an innovative radio telescope that is located at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in British Columbia, Canada. What a fascinating discovery, researchers from the CHIME/FRB Collaboration. We look forward to your further insights and the potential discovery of the signals’ source. May your research help to further our knowledge of the astonishing creation in which we reside, in God’s Harmony.

Up next, Australian state commits to increasing green cover. We’ll take a moment to thank the highly focused emergency room nurses who calmly and swiftly care for their patients in a busy environment. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more enriching news.

Good day lively viewers, it’s Greyson the vegan Greyhound. The earth is transforming and you can too. Just be vegan! I’ve got a car care tip for you today. For those who haven’t switched to an electric vehicle, please keep this in mind: if you happen to see a tanker truck filling a service station’s holding tanks, it is best not to pump gas. Because when the tanks are re-filled, the sediments at the bottom will be stirred up. If you refuel at this time, these sediments can enter your vehicle’s fuel tank, running the risk of clogging the fuel filters and injectors, and possibly causing poor car performance and failures. So best to fuel up another time. Remember to stay safe on the roads! Love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Thank you for watching and here’s the weather around the world!

Australian state to plant thousands of trees.

New South Wales is investing more than US$3.2 million to plant 172,000 trees in the Greater Sydney area as part of the government’s goal of planting one million trees by 2022. Of the total amount, 100,000 of the trees will be planted with the non-profit environmental group Landcare NSW, and focus primarily on Western Sydney. Another 72,000 trees will be planted across schools, parks and community areas by conservation organization Greening Australia, which will partner with school children. Western Sydney University will help to identify suburbs with a lower canopy cover, which will in turn be increased. The project will help to bring a cooler climate to many residential areas and provide cleaner air and shade. The government of New South Wales is a Shining World Leadership Award for Protection recipient and a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate. Such a marvelous project, New South Wales, to increase the amount of green space in your state. May your new trees thrive and provide homes for countless birds and animals, as well as clean air and cooling shade for all, in Heaven’s glory.

Scientists find microbe that stops mosquitoes spreading malaria.

Dr. Jeremy Herren from Switzerland, working with a team of scientists from the Kenya-headquartered International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, has discovered a microbe called Microsporidia MB that stops mosquitoes catching malaria, and thus passing it on to humans. The Microsporidia MB is a kind of symbiotic fungus that lives inside the cells of the mosquitoes and protects them from contracting the disease by activating their immune systems. Currently, the team is developing a method to safely spread the fungus through mosquito populations and potentially eradicate malaria. Fantastic news, Dr. Jeremy Herren and International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology scientists, on your discovery which may soon end malaria. May such amazing advancements bring us to a healthful and vibrant era for all beings, in Divine splendor.

Anonymous philanthropist supports COVID-19 relief efforts in Japan.

In early June, a gentleman visited the Nara Municipal Government building of western Japan and left immediately after handing over a package containing nearly US$275,000. The packet consisted of three bundles of cash along with a government notice that asked for donations to help overcome the pandemic. Each stack of money included one of the three donation causes listed on the notice – “Support of poor families,” “Improvement of educational settings,” and “Enhancement of healthcare system.” The staff member, who unsuccessfully tried to follow the man, commented that he seemed to be in his seventies. Mayor of Nara, the Honorable Gen Nakagawa, expressed his appreciation for “the kind deed of this man.” A big thanks, anonymous donor, for your humble and altruistic contribution. May the citizens of Japan and elsewhere in the world stay safe and resilient, in Heaven’s abundant love.

Coming up, American celebrity doctor advises meat reduction for better health. We pause to appreciate those who make different kinds of drawers, which help us to organize our living space. More wonderful news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Encouraging News for an Inspired World.

Famed American physician calls for less meat consumption to avoid COVID-19.

During an interview, well-respected television host, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is a Harvard University educated cardiothoracic surgeon, explained that over 90% of people admitted to hospital with the coronavirus have existing chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension or are overweight. According to Dr. Oz, the best way to overcome these conditions and enhance the body’s immunity is through diet, particularly reducing meat and sugar consumption and increasing intake of vegetables. Dr. Oz also referred to the documentary, The Game Changers, which “showed all those athletes saying they don’t eat meat because it isn’t as good for them as plant-based protein when it comes to recovery.” Dr. Oz affirmed, “They are world experts on their bodies and I trust their judgment.” Many thanks for your great expertise and valuable advice, Dr. Oz! May all people take a brave step forward and make the wise decision to adopt the vegan diet, in Celestial wisdom.

Bulgarian car mechanic dedicates free time to make mobility aids for cats and dogs.

Dimitar Dimitrov, a 50-year-old car mechanic from Ruse city of Bulgaria, created his first “wheel-walker” for an injured Rottweiler a few months ago. Since then, the thoughtful man has made a total of 49 wheelchairs to help cats and dogs in need regain their mobility. Using straps, wheels, and lightweight frames, it takes Mr. Dimitrov two to three hours to assemble a wheelchair. Offering his labor of love at no cost, Mr. Dimitrov said that his greatest reward is to see the four-legged friends move freely again and the joy in the eyes of their caregivers. Notably, Mr. Dimitrov, who believes that an animal should be saved even if there is only “a spark of life left,” stated that caregivers who do not abandon their animal companions despite challenges are an inspiration for him to continue his cause. We are deeply touched by your kind heart, Dimitar Dimitrov. And many thanks to the loving caregivers. May we always be good guardians of our beloved animal brethren, in Divine tender care.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present Dimitar Dimitrov the Shining World Compassion Award and a US$10,000 contribution for this caring endeavor, with lots of love and gratitude. May the Divine bless you always and shine on those loving beings you help.”

And now, to tickle your sense of humor, here’s the joke of the day entitled, “Grown-Up Boy.”

Little Teddy came thundering down the stairs, much to his mother's irritation. “Teddy, how many more times do I have to tell you to come downstairs quietly? Please, go back upstairs and try coming down like a grown-up boy, will you?”

There was silence as Teddy thought about it and went back upstairs. A few moments later, Teddy reappeared in front of his mom.

“That's much better. In the future, you can always come downstairs like that.”

Teddy’s face broke into a big grin, and he proclaimed: “Yay! I can slide down the railing!”
