Here’s some good news from India. The manufacturing company, Merino Industries, recently announced a plan to meet 75% of its power requirements through the use of renewable energy sources. As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of decorative laminates, restroom cubicles, modular furniture, and surfacing solutions, Merino Industries has also taken the initiative to minimize atmospheric emissions by ensuring it can operate without harming the environment.

It was reported in January 2025 that 25 countries had joined the GPAP to combat plastic pollution, marking a pivotal milestone in a global initiative dedicated to producing more sustainable materials and strengthening recycling systems.

In January 2025, the Marshall Islands government announced that it will protect a massive area of the Pacific Ocean, known to be one of the world’s most pristine and remote marine ecosystems. The marine sanctuary, spanning 48,000 square kilometers of the Marshall Islands’ northernmost uninhabited atolls, Bikar and Bokak, will be the first federal marine protected area (MPA) established by the Pacific Island nation.

In October 2024, sustainable electric wallpaper was piloted in 12 tenement properties in Glasgow to evaluate its effectiveness as a heating source. The electric wallpaper project was funded by the Scotland Beyond Net Zero coalition, a team of scientific experts from leading universities.

We’re pleased to share the uplifting news that in January 2025, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) designated the marine portions of Hawaii’s Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument as the 18th national marine sanctuary in the United States.
