Today, we will learn about how to make bio enzymes for natural home cleaning. To begin with, Ritu introduces us to the benefits and uses of bio enzymes. “If we talk about plants, it acts as a growth promoter, and also it increases the number of microbes in the soil. If there are microbes, you need not worry about nutrition from the soil. So, this is, even in the case of pets, one more use: it keeps ticks and mites away from your pets. It can act as a veggie wash also, fruit wash also. You can soak your veggies and fruits before consuming. So that if there is any coating of chemicals or any spray of chemicals, chemicals will be released. There’s a long list of its uses.”

Now, Ritu introduces how to make your own bio enzymes for natural home cleaning. We must prepare a discarded bottle, fresh peel, organic jaggery, and water. “Three parts you will be using peels. If you are using it for plants, you can use any fresh peel. Any fresh peel means any fruit or any veggie, but if you’re using it for your body, you can use either rose petals, or the citrus peels. So, this will be three parts. One part will be sugar, and ten parts will be water. When you are making bio enzymes, you should be careful that there should be some breathing space in the bottle. You can write a date or you can put a tag. And then every morning and evening, you just need to release these gases. After three months, this clear liquid is obtained. The pulp which was there, I have separated. So once this bio enzyme-making is complete, the peels will settle down. It doesn’t require sun because sun might kill the microbes. You just keep it in a shady place and forget about it for two months.”

Ritu mentioned that this bio enzyme has no expiry date. It can be stored for many years. Now, let’s discuss its usage. “If you are using it for plants, it will be good if you take one millilitre and one liter of water. So that much dilution is the best dilution. And if you’re using it in the soil, then you can take five ml in one liter of water. If you are using it for hand sanitizer, then you can take 50% bio enzyme and 50% water. It has been proved to be effective in many skin allergies also.”

Ritu has a few final words about the impact we have on our Earth. “So reduce – always remember, buy less clothes, buy less things. I mean, go to a minimalistic lifestyle. Think about our environment. You think about our Earth – how much a burden we and our previous generations have made it. Actually, if you listen, Earth is crying. Earth is screaming. …We have done all that devastation; we should reverse that now.”
