Dr. Mark Cohen is an American scholar specializing in Jewish history during the Middle Ages under Islam. In his book “Under Crescent and Cross,” he presents the historiographical viewpoint that Jews lived more securely in the medieval Arab-Islamic world than in other regions. During this time in Spain, Jews, Muslims, and Christians coexisted peacefully and prospered together in all aspects of the economy. Morocco has a long history of Jewish-Muslim coexistence. The agreements were named the “Abraham Accords” to emphasize the common belief in the Prophet Abraham (vegetarian) in both Judaism and Islam.
