In today’s news, Japan grants US$122 million to help Afghanistan, new COVID-19 strain may have a 70% higher mortality, fuel-efficient stoves help Malawi build a green economy, Greece’s public sector halts single-use plastics, United States airport officer goes extra mile to help stranded travelers, alternative protein market grows rapidly in Israel, and koala crossing busy freeway in Australia is rescued. All this and more, on Supreme Master Television, your constructive global TV channel.

Japan provides humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Japan announced a contribution of US$122 million to be used to support 17 humanitarian and development programs by various organizations in Afghanistan throughout 2021. For example, funding to the Law and Order Trust Fund for Afghanistan will continue to strengthen security in the country. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization also will receive US$1.8 million to provide nutrition and agricultural assistance to 8,000 farming families in four provinces. Meanwhile, US$660,000 will be allocated to the World Health Organization to improve Afghanistan’s health care in response to public medical emergencies amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Japan is a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Generosity, and Animal Protection laureate. Our respectful gratitude, Japan, for your benevolent generosity. We pray for a peaceful and prospering Afghanistan, in Heaven’s protection.

Data indicates new strain of COVID may be more fatal.

United Kingdom government scientists have reported that the new coronavirus variant, which is up to 70% more transmissible than the original, has a higher hospitalization rate and may also be 30% to 70% more lethal. The new strain, which is named B.1.1.7, originated in the United Kingdom and has since spread to at least 82 countries. Health officials have urged the public to continue taking precautions. Thank you, UK researchers, for your timely warning. In the wisdom of the Saints, may humanity quickly adopt the healthy and life-saving vegan diet to ensure an end to zoonotic pandemics including the current one.

Up next on Noteworthy News, fuel-efficient stoves help Malawi build a greener economy. We’ll take a moment to thank the emergency medical responders, who are trained to provide basic care on-site while other emergency services are yet to arrive. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more encouraging news.

Good day, compassionate friends! I’m Gordon the vegan Gooty Tarantula. Do you want to be beautiful inside out? Be vegan and your loveliness will radiate from head to toe! Applying elevated stickers to specific buttons on phones and TV remote controls can be helpful for elderly people with vision difficulties. For instance, adding raised bumps to the “Answer” button on their phone or the “On/off” and volume buttons on their remote control will make these devices easier for them to use. Thank you for your attention and lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Now, the worldwide weather.

Malawian citizens see benefits of producing fuel-efficient stoves.

Made out of clay, the stoves use 30-60% less energy than traditional models, decreasing emissions by consuming less firewood. The innovative devices, developed over years through users’ feedback, also reduce indoor pollution that causes respiratory problems. One of the producers of the stoves, the Kalata Mbaula club in Ntcheu, partners with the Malawi Traditional Authority to protect community trees. The Malawi-based non-profit organization United Purpose says that in the past decade, the country has sold over 2 million clay stoves, with the increased economic activity resulting in more people being able to afford motorcycles, homes and education for their children. Great news and example for fellow nations, Malawi. May innovations such as these help to build healthier and more sustainable societies, in Divine blessings.

Greece bans plastic in public sector.

All Greek government agencies will halt the procurement of plastic cutlery, plates, straws, and drink stirrers; styrofoam drink and food containers and their lids; and all items made of non-biodegradable plastic. The ruling was approved by the Greek parliament in October 2020 and will be fully put into effect in July 2021. His Excellency Dr. Konstantinos Aravossis, Greece’s Natural Environment and Waters Secretary General, stated that this new ruling “is the first significant step toward ending the use of disposable plastics in Greece.” Thank you, Greece, for taking this initiative on a serious issue. May we all soon enjoy a pristine natural environment as we practice our love and wisdom in how we treat our Earthly home.

Airport officer recognized for helping stranded travelers get to the right destination.

A family of three was mistakenly booked on a flight to Portland, Oregon in the United States, more than 4,800 kilometers from their intended destination on the other coast in Portland, Maine. After they had to spend a night in the terminal, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Officer Martin Rios was called upon to translate for the Spanish-speaking family with limited English. Learning that the family had insufficient funds to travel again, Mr. Rios went above and beyond the normal scope of his job to help purchase new tickets using his own money. The airport later proudly awarded Mr. Rios with the Make the Connection Quarterly Award for his exemplary customer service. We too applaud your meritorious act, TSA Officer Martin Rios. May we all show the same spirit of sympathy and kindness towards others, in God’s love.

Coming up, alternative protein market grows rapidly in Israel. We’ll pause now to watch the Mevlevi Sema ceremony, a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity practiced by the Mevleviye, a Sufi order established in Konya of modern-day Turkey. We’ll be right back with more noble news here on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Positive News for a Better World.

Israel’s plant-based meat and milk market sees great growth.

The alternative protein market in Israel grew 13 times more than its animal protein counterpart in 2020, according to - the United States headquartered international non-profit Good Food Institute. Plant-based burgers and mince were the most popular items, seeing a 57% rise in sales. Furthermore, dairy alternative sales, including cheese and yogurt, increased by 40%. The vegan rise is credited to a wider awareness of the environmental and health impacts of meat consumption, combined with the availability of high-quality, affordable vegan products. Thanks for the encouraging report, Good Food Institute, and way to go, smart and loving Israeli citizens, for your dedication to saving animals and our planet by switching to alternative protein sources. In Divine support, may Israel soon become a 100% vegan nation helping to pave the way to a better world.

A koala trying to cross a highway in Australia is rescued.

The irresistibly cute koala was stuck at the barrier of a six-lane freeway in Adelaide, causing a back-up of traffic and several collisions. Luckily, no one was injured including the koala. Several individuals tried to rescue the sweet animal, with two women eventually being able to get a hold of him using a blanket and coat. Once placed safely inside her car, Nadia Tugwell found that the koala was calm and even invited himself to sit at her steering wheel. Help from the non-profit Adelaide Koala Rescue arrived and were later able to release the little guy in a forest, a distance from the freeway. The local police advised that travelers who see an animal should call authorities instead of risking their own safety by stopping on a busy road. We are so thankful, Ms. Tugwell, the Adelaide Koala Rescue and all involved for your concern for the vulnerable koala. May he enjoy a peaceful life, in the care of the Providence.

Some say laughter is the best medicine, so let’s have a good dose with a joke of the day entitled, “Frugal Winter.”

“I really don’t know how we are going to use 9% less gas this winter.”

“Well, you can stop burning dinner for a start.”

And now we have a heartline from Xiao-Zhu in China:

Ignite the fire of youth, We burn up life to years. Drifting in the river of love, Listen to a sad song. With ideals we uphold, We are full of hope. The arrival of the Vegan World Is our lifetime goal, Is what we are longing for. Pray that there’ll be no more war in the world. Like the river, the blood flows. Yearn for an Earth without disasters. Destroyed are the homelands. Plead for the departure of the pandemic, Cities permeated with deep panic. Listen to the voice of God, Love, compassion and equality. Listen to the voice of humans, Happiness, freedom and prosperity. Listen to the voice of animals, Torture, anger and misery. Animals are our friends. Humans, please wake up quickly, And recognize your inherent quality. Love the animals and hurt them no more. Then the world will be beautiful till eternity. Grateful for God’s Grace. Grateful for God’s Blessing. Grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai For dedicating selflessly to all beings. Words cannot describe it. Let us pray with all our heart. Pray for Vegan World to come Thanks to the selfless dedication of the Supreme Master TV team. Xiao-Zhu, a disciple from China

Talented Xiao-Zhu, We are thankful to you for sharing your poetry with us. May God continue to inspire your pen and guide its writings. P.S. Master says: “Vivid Xiao-Zhu, I appreciate your profound poem and its powerful message that pleads for a transformation of our planet’s conscious.
