The artists, they descend to this world to beautify the world, so that it becomes more beautiful and happier. To beautify the world also means to bring a peaceful and happy atmosphere to all beings. The artist utilizes his or her inborn talent to help make life more meaningful, especially to ease and comfort people’s heart, when they face distress in life. Therefore, every time we hear a nice song, or contemplate a beautiful painting, or look at a very cosy room, or listen to a soulful song, or watch a very touching play or movie, we feel that our soul is enriched or comforted.I knew this person. Her boyfriend left her, she cried so much, but crying didn’t lessen her sorrow at all. Then I told her to go home and listen to music, keep listening to music, non-stop. Because she was not practicing meditation, so I couldn’t tell her to meditate. I told her to go home and listen to those songs that she loved the most. For example, those songs by Thái Thanh, or Trịnh Công Sơn, Phạm Duy, Khánh Ly, Mai Hương, Lệ Thu, Lệ Thanh, Hà Thanh, who were artists in the old time, many of them. I don’t know many new artists, so please forgive me. These days, I don’t have time anymore, so I only know the older artists. I told her to go home and turn on the tape to listen to the music non-stop. Just lie there, listen and cry at the same time. Two days later, she was no longer sorrowful. It was truly like that, it was a true story!The artists put all their heart in what they do, because they sympathize with the suffering and sorrow of the world. Therefore, they could write such soulful songs and lyrics. So when we listen, we feel comforted – as if someone is next to us, embraces us and gives us advice. As we listen, our concentration will blend in with the music. People in this world, all love arts and music. So if we keep listening to the songs that we like, to let our soul blend in with the music, we will forget our sorrow. After two or three days, we will forget it completely. Keep listening to the music to forget our sorrow completely and our life will continue normally. Find another boyfriend. There are plenty of them. Why sit there and cry over one person, right?After that, she came and thanked me. I said, “Okay, in the future, if your boyfriend leaves you, just do like that. Or if you see someone who cries sadly, tell him or her to do the same – listen to music.” Music lifts our spirit up to other places, above this suffering world, above the dust of this world. Once our spirit is lifted up a little higher, then we forget our suffering. For example, if we keep immersing ourselves in the river then of course, we would be wet and cold. If you want to be dry and warm, you have to go up, get out of that place. Music can take you up to other places, other worlds, so that you can forget your sorrow temporarily.And everyone likes music. So the Aulacese (Vietnamese) also like foreign music. The Americans, the British, the French also love the Aulacese (Vietnamese) songs that I sang sometimes. Oh, they love them so much. They said: “Oh God, it’s so nice!” I said, “You don’t understand anything and still like it so much? Or because I sing them, and ‘Mother sings and children applaud,’ right?" Because he is my disciple, so I said don’t be like “Mother sings and children applaud.” But he said, “No, Master, it was truly nice, very nice.” I knew he was honest. I call myself Big Sister, not Master, okay.I know many disciples whom I sometimes asked to drive for me. I found that they put in their car the CD's of the Aulacese (Vietnamese) songs. The Aulacese (Vietnamese) songs which I sang before, not only the songs I wrote, but other artists’ songs too. They also loved those songs. I asked them, “Why do you listen to songs that you don’t understand? You don’t understand the Aulacese (Vietnamese) lyrics, how can you listen all the time?” They said, “It’s very nice, the music is so nice! We don’t need to understand the lyrics.”Therefore, it's true that the artists' music, or movies – any artist; their talent can lift people’s spirit to the next level and unite everyone in the world. They quietly offer a lot to peace, but no one thanks them. Today, on behalf of the whole world, I thank you – the Messengers of Peace.
