Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, or simply Gandhi, was born in Porbandar in the state of Gujarat, India, in 1869. As faithful vaishnavas, the Gandhi family members were strict vegetarians, diligently maintaining the compassionate, peaceful diet. Mahatma Gandhi once said: “The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.” Today, we recall the life of a great soul, mahatma Gandhi.
