“And Moses said unto the LORD: ‘See, Thou say unto me: “Bring up this people”; and Thou have not let me know whom Thou will send with me. Yet Thou have said: “I know thee by name, and thou have also found grace in My sight.” Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy ways, that I may know Thee, to the end that I may find grace in Thy sight; and consider that this nation is Thy people.’ And He said: ‘My Presence shall go with Thee, and I will give Thee rest.’ […]”

And the Lord said unto Moses: ‘Write Thou these words, for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with Thee and with Israel.’ And He was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; He did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And He wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Words. And it came to pass, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in Moses’ hand, when He came down from the mount, that Moses knew not that the skin of His face sent forth beams while He talked with Him.
