This one of two chicks that had managed to survive in the wild, and by the sounds of things, pretty well. He’s got quite a tummy. The discovery of the wee hatchlings comes after little spotted kiwi were found here in July for the first time in five decades. Until then, it was believed our smallest kiwi species only survived on offshore islands and fenced predator-free sites.
