Isaiah, son of Amoz, is one of the most celebrated ancient Jewish prophets, believed by scholars to have been a vegetarian. The book of Isaiah tells us that God will restore justice and righteousness to the people of Israel. The day of that judgment is called “the day of the Lord,” as God’s compassion will take the form of a new Messianic King. Christians believe that this refers to the coming of The Worshipped Lord Jesus Christ, and that through Christ’s suffering, humankind will fully receive salvation. Thus, the Lord’s new and righteous kingdom on Earth is the glorious ideal depicted in the book of Prophet Isaiah.
