The more you practice spiritually, the more your love expands, the more you feel other people are just like you. So, when they suffer, you feel the same like them. Sometimes, seeing the bird-people not having enough to eat, I also feel very heartbroken and bring them food. I don’t know if they eat or not, but I still try, for example. Seeing many stray dog-people out there, sick and having no one to care for them, I also shed tears. Not that I don’t know. Not that I don’t know the karmic retribution, but even though I know that, I still feel sorry for them.

In any situation, we just try to practice more, do good and avoid bad. We are joyful when we see others do good. If we can’t do it, we heartily support it, then we are also doing a good deed, to reduce our karma, to balance it out. And as our merit is getting greater, our [bad] karma will be suppressed, and so our lives will become better.

Do not ever criticize the government or the working officials. Whether they are good or bad, we don’t criticize them. If we criticize them, then we are not good, then their karma will spread to us, not just that it’s not good, but because we shouldn’t criticize. In Âu Lạc (Vietnam) we say, “Loving others is like loving ourselves; hating others is like giving them fertilizer to grow.” Remember!
