In today’s news, Russia provides vital food aid to Tajikistan, two new studies show that ice-melt is occurring much faster than previous estimates, Japanese researchers find double-masking does not significantly increase effectiveness of protection, Qatar celebrates tree-planting campaign milestone, Australian-based scientist invents “green ceramics,” vegan superfood for dogs released in the United Kingdom, and recent United States survey shows animal companions help people through the pandemic.

Russia supplies food assistance to Tajikistan schoolchildren and their families.

The Government of Russia contributed US$1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to supply 1,200 tons of fortified wheat flour and 50 tons of vegetable oil to approximately 22,000 vulnerable households in the Khatlon Region of Tajikistan. The food aid is an expansion of the already existing School Feeding Programme, which provides nutritious meals to 600,000 students across 52 rural districts of the country. Since 2005, the Government of Russia has contributed a total of US$ 83.5 million for food relief in Tajikistan. Russia is a laureate of two Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, a Shining World Generosity Leadership Award, and a Shining World Leadership Award for Wildlife-Protection. Our gratitude, Russia, for your generosity and loving care of Tajikistan. Thank you also World Food Programme! May the fine people of Tajikistan flourish in Heaven’s radiance as we embrace an era of kindness.

Global ice melt from climate change poses unprecedented risk.

Two new studies show that the Earth’s ice is melting much more rapidly than indicated by previous estimates. The first study, funded by the United Kingdom Natural Environment Research Council and led by the University of Leeds in the UK, calculated that the planet’s total ice loss has increased from 0.8 trillion metric tons annually in the 1990s to 1.3 trillion metric tons per year by 2017, an over 60% increase. The second study, which was backed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, focused on Greenland. It showed that warming ocean waters are melting specific glaciers more quickly than previously understood, with 74 of them in deep fjords responsible for almost half of Greenland’s ice loss between 1992 and 2017. This increased melting poses heretofore uncalculated risks to sea levels rising and its damaging global impact. Thank you, United Kingdom Natural Environment Research Council, University of Leeds, NASA and all participating scientists, for this significant information. Our sincere prayers that we humans will respond to the scientific evidence and adopt all measures to save our precious planet, especially adopting the benevolent vegan lifestyle, in God’s mercy.

Up next, Japanese researchers find double-masking does not significantly increase effectiveness of protection. We are just going to thank the operators that carefully run trams, also known as streetcars, trolleys and light rails, so as to transport passengers safely to their destinations in busy cities, at airports between terminals, or at amusement parks. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more meaningful news.

Hallo, brilliant viewers, I am Oinky the vegan Piglet! Did you know that photosynthesis in plants uses energy from the sun to create carbohydrates and protein? That means we can easily get our daily nutrition directly from eating plants. Just try it and feel the difference! Today, I have a tip on how to stylishly showcase your children’s artwork. You will need pant hangers for this project, which you might be able to find at your local thrift store. Use stencils or stickers to personalize the hangers with your child’s name or a significant date. You can also paint your hangers with a color you desire and allow it to dry. Next, fasten your child’s artwork to the hanger using the hanger clips and hang it gallery style on picture hooks around your home for all to see. Thank you for watching, and much love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Here’s the weather around the world!

Japanese researchers find double-masking does not significantly increase effectiveness of protection.

Dr. Makoto Tsubokura and team from Kobe University created a model using the Fugaku supercomputer at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science in Japan to determine how effective various masks were at trapping small droplets during coughing. The simulation revealed that a properly fitted, nonwoven medical mask trapped 85% of the droplets, whereas correct double masking stopped only slightly more at 89% of particles. A loosely worn medical mask only trapped 69% of the particles. Dr. Tsubokura noted that an all-around approach comprising of a well-fitted nonwoven, single face mask, social distancing, hand washing and ventilation, is necessary to prevent transmission of airborne diseases such as COVID-19 and seasonal influenza. Our earnest appreciation, Dr. Makoto Tsubokura and co-researchers involved, for this important study. In Divine guidance, may we continue to take necessary precautions to safeguard one another during this challenging time.

Qatar celebrates significant milestone in tree-planting campaign.

As part of the ‘Plant Million Trees’ initiative, 300,000 trees have already been planted in Qatar’s capital city of Doha. Launched by the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the campaign’s goal is to improve the country’s environmental sustainability and development as well as create a better future for the younger generations. The celebration ceremony of the achievement included the display of murals created by 11 artists, and tree-planting activities by children at the Post Office Plaza in Doha. Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums, Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, joined the event. Qatar is a Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace and Compassion laureate. Our accolades, Qatar, and wishing continued success of your eco-endeavor. May we all halt deforestation and allow our Earth’s beautiful flora to regenerate across the world by turning to the lives-saving vegan diet, in Allah’s infinite blessing!

Australia-based inventor transforms waste into environmentally friendly ceramics.

Professor Veena Sahajwalla, founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research & Technology at the University of New South Wales, Australia, recently unveiled her team’s latest invention - a “micro factory” that produces “green ceramics” from old clothes and glass bottles. As a pioneer in the high temperature transformation of waste, Professor Sahajwalla is known internationally as the inventor of “green steel,” which involves the extraction of carbon from old tires to replace coal and coke in steelmaking. Since its development 20 years ago, this revolutionary technology has enabled millions of waste tires to be recycled. Professor Sahajwalla, who also heads the governmental agency Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub, envisions a “zero waste economy” in Australia, as she rolls out her “micro factory” model to local communities. Well done and our grateful applause, Professor Veena Sahajwalla and team, for your ingenious work. May we create more such remarkable innovations to preserve our delicate planetary home, in God’s brilliance.

Coming up, vegan superfood for dogs released in the United Kingdom. We’ll pause for a moment to learn about the mystery play of Elche, a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, enacted annually in Valencia, Spain to honor the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary since the mid-fifteenth century. More comforting news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Refreshing News for a Pleasant World.

United Kingdom company launches vegan dog food. Cruelty-free HOWND has released a vegan superfood for canine friends.

The Hearty Vegan Quinoa & Pumpkin Casserole with Hemp Protein & Moringa product is made with a range of highly nutritious ingredients, contains added vitamins and minerals, is veterinarian-approved and naturally hypoallergenic. Renowned UK veterinary surgeon, animal welfare advocate and friend of HOWND, Dr. Marc Abraham stated “...extensive research has shown that it is absolutely possible for our canine companions to thrive on a meat-free diet...” Kudos, HOWND, and all the best to your ethical ventures! In the love of Heaven, may canines across the globe soon experience the healthy goodness of vegan food.

Animal companions help people thrive during the pandemic.

A recent survey by Kinship company in the United States has revealed the huge importance of our animal friends to our well-being, with 71% of the respondents saying they could not have survived the pandemic without their non-human family members. Eighty-four percent of the people revealed that the situation made them aware of how much their animal friends improve their lives, and a similar number of people responded that in 2021 they would spend more time with their cherished animal companions. Such gladdening news, Kinship, on the increasing awareness of the many ways in which animals bless our lives. May compassion and respect of all species continue to grow, in the light of the Providence.

Chuckle, guffaw and laugh out loud with the joke of the day called “Emergency Number.”

The elevator in Kim’s building malfunctioned one day, leaving her and several others stranded inside. Seeing a sign that listed two emergency phone numbers, Kim dialed the first and explained their situation. After what seemed to be a very long silence, the voice on the other end said:

“I don’t know what you expect me to do for you. I’m a psychologist.”

“A psychologist? Your phone is listed here as an emergency number. Can’t you help us?”

“All right. How do you feel about being stuck in an elevator?”
