“Having attained the great Nirvāṇa, The one who will relieve suffering with Great Compassion, To delight all, has appeared in the world. When He was a Bodhisattva, He always gave others all the joy, Never killing or distressing others. And His tolerance is like that of the great Earth.”
In our last episode we discovered that thousands of years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha (vegan) predicted the current Dharma-Ending Age, also known as the Age of Dharma Decline. In this period, humanity is besieged by dangers on all fronts: material temptations, environmental destruction, climate change, economic hardship, diseases and purposeful religious fraud by those claiming to be sincere religious leaders who instead lie to their followers, teach them to do the opposite of the holy teachings, and even carry out sexual abuse on devotees. How can we find our way out of this darkness and find salvation?
Shakyamuni Buddha, the World Honored One, delivered an extraordinary message of hope in many of His discourses. The message has been recorded in several Buddhist scriptures.
"Hearken Single-mindedly! In radiant great samadhi, The one with unsurpassed virtue Will rightfully appear in the world. That one will pronounce the wondrous Dharma, And all will be infused with it, Like the thirsty drinking the sweet nectar. All will swiftly set off on the Liberation Path."
Buddha prophesied “The One with unsurpassed virtue will rightfully appear in the world.” And this Saintly Being will teach “wonderous Dharma” and set all beings on the path of Liberation. Who is this Saintly Being?
“O You, Ajita! In days to come, there will be a king named ‘Sankha.’ In His reign, You will practice the Way, attain Buddhahood, and be called Maitreya.”
Here, Shakyamuni Buddha pronounced the future destiny of Ajita, Who was one of His disciples at that time. Ajita means invincible, or unconquerable in Sanskrit, and He will come to be called Maitreya.
Shakyamuni Buddha also foretold the incredible spiritual attainment of Maitreya Buddha and the immense merit He would share with His believers.
“Since the Thus-Gone One is omniscient, I have prophesied that within this retinue, the Bodhisattva great being Maitreya will fully awaken to unsurpassed and perfect Buddhahood. […] When sentient beings in the future take refuge in the Bodhisattva Maitreya, those who do so will attain the unsurpassed path and the non-regressing wheel of Dharma. […] Those who recite the name of Maitreya even once will be freed from twelve hundred eons of birth and death and will have their misdeeds purified. Those who hear the name of Maitreya and join their palms together will be freed from fifty eons of birth and death. Those who respectfully prostrate to Maitreya will be liberated from one billion eons of birth and death and will have their misdeeds purified.”
Maitreya is a word derived from the Sanskrit maitrī, which means loving-kindness, benevolence, amity, and friendliness. Great Compassion seems to be the “adorning” quality of Maitreya Buddha according to “The Sūtra of Maitreya Bodhisattva’s Attainment of Buddhahood.” It’s written that four god-kings praised the future Buddha in these verses:
“No one living in the Three Realms can compare With the One adorned with Great Compassion, Who has realized and understood the highest Truth. He has penetrated the nature of sentient beings And the appearances of all Dharmas, Seeing both abiding in the nature of emptiness. […] Having attained the great Nirvāṇa, The one who will relieve suffering with Great Compassion, To delight all, has appeared in the world. When He was a Bodhisattva, He always gave others all the joy, Never killing or distressing others. And His tolerance is like that of the great Earth.”
Great Compassion is also the “adorning quality” of our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan). Out of Her Great Compassion, Master has devoted all Her life to relieving suffering and giving joy in this world.
Her Great Compassion, manifested in the spiritual form is expressed by teaching the Truth through all possible means from public lectures, publishing books, to founding Supreme Master TV. She imparts the precious Quan Yin Method of Meditation on the inner Heavenly Light and Sound that connects one with one’s God Nature.
In the physical form, it is manifested by providing aid to those suffering from misfortunes, disasters and conflicts, sending relief teams with financial contributions, emergency supplies, and caring thoughts and prayers.
Out of Her Great Compassion, Master works to relieve the suffering of animal-people who are brutally abused in confined factories and eaten by humans. To this end, Master endeavors to turn the world vegan and realize peace on Earth. ETC…
Master even shared a “no-pain” plant-foods list, to help people choose to eat plants that don’t feel pain, thus alleviating the pain felt by some plants upon harvesting. Please Visit
“Every day when I see the TV… Because sometimes we have to show the gruesome pictures of animal-people being abused and tortured and massacred like that. Oh, my heart just… like somebody’s stabbing it with a knife. Every day I pray, every day I cry. Every day I cannot bear. It’s too slow for my liking. Too slow. (Yes.) Even though there is some progress everywhere, but I still don’t like it. I said to Heaven, ‘Oh God. Please, this world is like hell. I don’t know if I can continue bearing to work here.’ (Yes.) Every day. Every day.”
Just as the word Maitreya implies, “friendliness” is another quality of Supreme Master Ching Hai, Who is able to make friends with people from all walks of life wherever She goes. From high government officials, celebrities, esteemed artists, to taxi drivers, grocery store workers, maintenance persons, and hotel employees, Master approaches everyone with the same ease, grace, and generosity, and treats all with respect, and kindness. Animal-people and plants are not exempt from Her circle of friends.
“I had the opportunity to meet the Supreme Master. She was so gracious and so personable, and you could just feel the compassion there. And you could tell that She was not putting on any kind of act, that this was who She was. There were so many people who were around, and one thing that I noticed was that when She was talking with me, She was talking to me and was not distracted, and She was very, very humble to have accomplished all that She has accomplished. […] She was just very, very... the interpretation I got was: an ordinary person.”
“Revered as a living Deity, She is quite human, and very charming. And She’s nice to hang with, and I liked Her.”
“I can’t quantify the impact I feel about the privilege of meeting You personally today, Supreme Master Ching Hai. […] You are so real, You are so warm, and it was just an unspeakable privilege. I know You from Your reputation, and we all know Your message. But to meet You personally, You are a wonderful human being, and an enlightened soul. You make the world a brighter, more radiant place. We need more of You. Thank You for being who You are.”
“She was so down to earth and exuded such a humble nature, and beautiful She is. (Thank you.)”
“She’s like the physical embodiment of all the Love in the Universe in this little tiny package. And to be near Her and to speak with Her and to actually feel the Love coming off of this Individual, it was like all the little broken pieces of my soul got healed. It was truly life-changing. What an extraordinary Lady.”
It is no surprise that many of our Association members have seen in their inner visions that our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) is the prophesized Maitreya Buddha.
“In my vision, I was allowed to visit the Tushita Heaven to see for myself that Master is the Maitreya Buddha. In the center of the light, energy-filled, soft white Tushita, there is a circular platform with an energy-made tower-like yellowy-gold Light structure shooting up high. Then, I saw Maitreya Buddha, sitting in a lotus position, levitating up to the top while playing Heavenly tunes with various musical instruments. The one particularly noted by me was shaped like the er-hu fiddle, yet it was being played like a flute. It was peaceful, calm and very vibrant everywhere! I was surprised that the manifested form revealed to me of Maitreya Buddha is a juvenile, jubilant, young monk who is in a yellow-red abbot kashaya (robe), with a round and cheery figure, and was holding a joyful and happy expression. Maitreya has the Buddha’s symbolic curly, coiled hair too. The way Maitreya moves and plays the instruments, the facial expressions, and the overall charisma, made me undoubtedly recognize it is Master. Immediately, without any other thoughts, I said, ‘This is Master.’”
“One time, I saw the inner Master. Master wore a white dress, white hat, and held an umbrella as a cane. Another time, when I meditated in July 2022, I saw the word ‘Maitreya (Di Lặc)’ and Heaven said ‘Maitreya (Di Lặc) is Master, Supreme Master Ching Hai.’”
“While meditating in the lighthouse located on the hilltop of Larung Gar Buddhist Academy, I had an inner vision of a miraculous snow lotus mountain slowly moving toward me from afar. “The Key to Antakala – The Middle Way” suddenly flew toward the center of the holy snow lotus-like mountain, which then instantly bloomed in full and emitted dazzling light of all colors along with gusts of fragrance! The Terma gate opened itself unexpectedly, and Maitreya Buddha manifested in the sky and became one with Master’s light body. Countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas appeared to congratulate and celebrate together.”
