In a study entitled, “Proactive conservation to prevent habitat losses to agricultural expansion,” a team of international scientists led by the Universities of Leeds and Oxford in the United Kingdom assessed that if we continue our current agricultural land use policies, 87.7% of almost 20,000 terrestrial vertebrate species may lose their habitat by 2050.

In particular, the scientists warned that “without big changes to food systems,” millions of square kilometers of natural habitats could be lost. Moreover, 1,280 species are projected to lose at least a quarter of their remaining habitat, with hundreds losing at least 50%, making them more vulnerable to extinction.

Published in the journal Nature Sustainability, the study calls for a rapid shift to more plant-based, “healthier human diets.”

Many thanks, all researchers of this important study. In God’s wisdom and benevolence, may countries around the world quickly transition to a vegan diet to save our planet and her inhabitants.
